Well guess who suddenly appeared 4 months later to take up one space in your MC...
-TURTLES REALLY CAN BREATHE THROUGH THEIR BUTTS. IT'S NOT A MYTH. IT'S TRUE. I researched it after I saw it in an e-mail, and I was pretty surprised
-The average sword weighs 3 pounds (1.36kg), not the usually believed 10 or 15 pounds. SHOCKING! But if you have a sword like Cloud's...
-Speaking of metric and imperial systems, all countries are now officially metric except for Burma, Liberia, and the United States. (some people in Canada still use pounds, feet, and inches though, but the country is officially supposed to be metric)
-Remember, whatever your "weight" is actually is your mass! As my science teacher says, if you really wanna lose weight, go fall down a hole. Then you'll be weightless on the way. WOO HOO. Jenny Craig should have sky diving programs then XDD
-The highest number of guns per 100 people is the U.S., at 90 guns per 100 people. The next highest is Italy, at 4 guns per 100 people. That's quite scary. And yes, I do know that in the U.S. there is the right for citizens to bear arms. But just saying... look at those numbers. Wow. o.o
-Coffee farmers in Ethiopia get paid the equivalent of 23 cents US Dollar per 1kg of coffee. 1kg of coffee makes around 80 cups of coffee. Funny though, because don't we pay at least $2.00 per cup of coffee? Or more? (I wouldn't know, I don't drink coffee) And guess what? Coffee farmers are starving to death because we aren't insisting that corporations pay the farmers living wages. And the only reason we're paying so much is because of all the people in between the farmer and where we get our coffee. So if we all switch to fair trade coffee... We can actually get cheaper coffee while still increasing the farmer's wages! MOST INTRUIGING. Too bad consumers keep themselves blissfully ignorant about free trade vs. fair trade. *shot*
Okay that's it. Actually that last one was kind of a rant
Well, you guys haven't had to suffer from my rants for 4 months! 8D At least the feature journal was up the whole time
As for updates on my life (that no one is interested in 8D ), I got awarded Math student of the month for April, so now I'm a more official geek 8D The most amusing part was probably the certificate... "This award is presented to students who demonstrate consistently strong work habits and are a positive influence in their classes". Funny, because there were a few days when I was playing Phantom Hourglass in math while I was supposed to be doing my homework, and usually during homework times I go around bothering people and mooching for food
*ahem* I'm going to go on a religious rant now, so if you don't care about these, you can skip it. There's something that's been reeaallly bothering me lately that I want to get off my chest. It sounds stupid, yet it's ridiculous how many people think this. Firstly, NO, not all Christians are perfect little angels with halos around their heads. Even though we are, by our beliefs (and supposed to be our deeds too -_- ), saved, we TRY to be loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, gentle, self-controlling people, but it doesn't always work out. That's an understatement. It usually doesn't work out would be more like it. So don't assume that every Christian or person who claims to be a Christian is an all around perfect person. That's the expectation people have, and it's NOT reasonable. But we do (or are supposed to *cough*) try, okay? >_>
And another thing. People also get the impression that all Christians assume that Athiests are mean, uncaring, cruel, evil people. NO. Not all Christians think that, and those who do need to get something straight in their heads, because it's obviously wrong. So don't think that Christians look down on all non-Christians. That is not SUPPOSED the case at all. And also, we are not SUPPOSED to hate gay people, and we DO NOT think that all gay people need to die. NO. BIG. FAT. NO. We don't like that they're gay, yes, but it doesn't mean we don't like the person. Disliking someone's sexuality is different from disliking the actual person. Get that right please. And for those who really do hate gay people or are afraid of them... *sigh* It's a little sad that you're afraid of fellow humans who like other humans. o.o Think about it for a second there.
One more religious thing... for those of us who claim ourselves to be Christians, this is a challenge from me. We call ourselves Christians, we say that we love God, and yet look at this! Let's turn around and swear at people, threaten to beat people up, put people down behind their backs, and be generally unpleasant! Does that sound familiar? Because a LOT of people who claim to be Christians do that. More the swearing and put downs and generally unpleasant part. How can we wonder why people don't want to come to Christ when no one sees any GOOD in us? There are plenty of kind Athiests out there! Who needs Christ when Christians are a bunch of jerks anways? Obviously God is useless! That's the message we're giving when we're going around being mean retards. So my challenge is this: If you're going to call yourself a Christian, MAKE AN EFFORT TO IMPROVE YOURSELF. No one's perfect. No duh. But at least try to be better! When you go around treating people like dirt and then saying "Oh by the way, I'm a Christian, Jesus Christ lives in me, and I LOVE GOD! 8D", that's a slap in the face to Christ. So please guys, get your act together. And no, I'm NOT saying that I'm already wonderful, loving, caring, and NEVER a jerk! No duh I'm not. I'm still not that great of an example actually. But always keep trying to improve. If you care enough that you call yourself a Christian, put it into deeds. Show it! As Christians, we have something that others don't- Christ living in us, shinning in us. If you don't care enough about representing Christ well to others around you, why do you bother to shame yourself and say you're a Christian? If no actions support your claims, it won't be of any good anyways. You'll probably get beat up (not just physically, there's verbal put down too) for something you don't even care much about. Yes, being a Christian has become a negative thing nowadays. Hopefully that wasn't a news flash.
Okay, I'll end my religious rant there. And now you guys know some of my biggest pet peeves 8D But I'll clarify one more topic... don't worry, it's not religious
END OF
Ah, now I have some giant rants posted on my front page that'll probably be there until summer. That's more like my journal
